The sun has finally come out here in the PNW, and we find ourselves in the midst of a Vitamin D high. It's kind of like being drunk. You love everyone, everything makes you happy, your surroundings are suddenly SO PRETTY, OMG! Then you overdo it, you don't stop when you should. You stay out too long and the next day you are pink and sore and suffering from your first sunburn of the season. Sunny day hangover.
We spent our first sunny day in Woodburn, Oregon at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. Last year we went on Easter weekend, but this year we were too sick that week, so we waited until this weekend to go, and I'm glad we did. 75 degree weather and the fields were in full bloom.
Much frolicking was done.
When we finally got back to our car we found that it had sunk into the mud. Normally this turn of events would cause me to freak out in a hysterical panic, especially because I had other plans that afternoon. But still high on sunshine, I found it hilarious, and when John and I couldn't push the car forward or back, we enlisted the help of a carfull of European tourists to push us out. Even with five extra people, the car had trouble budging. Eventually we were able to rock it out of the rut and went home, but by then the kids were STARVING and I was going to be too late to attend my friend's open house. Bummed as I was about that, I still chalked it up to a fantastic day with my family. We fed the boys frozen pizza and ice cream and I passed out in a sun-drunken stupor until John woke me up to help him tuck the boys in to bed.
